A practice built around families

Why parents keep coming back.

If you've ever had a child traumatised by a previous dentist, you'll understand what Dr Gani's patients are describing in their reviews. The pattern is consistent: kids who walked in nervous walked out smiling. Here's how that happens.

  • 1

    Time, not techniques

Dr Gani never rushes a child. Multiple reviews mention this directly — appointments are paced for the child's comfort, not a busy diary.

  • 2

    Explanation before tools

Every step is talked through in language a child understands. Trust first, treatment second.

  • 3

    Real mission experience with children

Through Gift of the Givers, Dr Gani treated children with trauma injuries in Syria. That kind of work changes how you sit with a nervous five-year-old.

  • 4

    A team that gets it

Dr Gani and her assistant Shabana have built a steady, calm rhythm that puts both kids and their parents at ease.

About the practice

A dentist who started with the hardest patients.

Dr Sadia Gani qualified as a dentist at the University of the Western Cape. Before settling into private practice in Pietermaritzburg, she spent time on humanitarian dental missions with Gift of the Givers — including work in Syria around 2013, where she treated patients in field clinics, including children with trauma injuries.

That experience shaped how she practises. Patients describe her as gentle, thorough, and patient — words that come up over and over in her Google reviews. She also runs oral-health education sessions for Grade 1–9 learners across Pietermaritzburg, and provides charity dental services as part of zakat initiatives.

Midlands Dental Studio operates from inside Midlands Medical Centre — part of the Midlands Specialist Private Hospital precinct — so patients benefit from a secure, well-supported environment with parking and full medical facilities nearby.

  • BDS — University of the Western Cape
  • Gift of the Givers humanitarian dental missions (Syria, ~2013)
  • Community oral-health education, Pietermaritzburg schools (Grade 1–9)
  • HPCSA-registered general dental practitioner
  • Located inside Midlands Medical Centre, central Pietermaritzburg

By far the best dentist I've ever been to. The care, the encouragement, the kindness is indescribable. I'm a person who can't stand pain and any form of discomfort however with Dr Gani I was so comfortable, so relaxed and so much at ease.

Dr Sadia is gentle, efficient and thorough. She makes you feel at ease whilst providing 5 star dental treatment. She is especially considerate and compassionate when it comes to paediatric patients and both my kids have had really positive dental experiences. She is a true gem.

Exceptional service. I highly recommend. I took my son who is 3 years old to fix up his teeth. Even though he was a very tough patient to deal with, the doctor was very understanding and went over and above to give my son a brand new smile.

What happens at a first visit?+

Your first visit usually includes a full mouth assessment, X-rays if needed, a scale and polish, and a conversation about anything you've been concerned about. Dr Gani will always explain what she's seeing before any treatment is planned. No pressure, no rush.

Can I bring my kids with me to a check-up?+

Absolutely — many of our patients are families who book multiple appointments back to back. It often helps younger children to see a parent go first.
